The Kremlin intends to capture the city of Zaporizhzhia and the rest of the ISW region

The same applies to the Kherson region. And after the “liberation”, the occupiers intend to hold a “referendum” there as well.

Russia has decided on its territorial appetites in Ukraine and intends to seize another regional center – Zaporizhzhia, as well as the rest of the region to its administrative borders. The same applies to the Kherson region. Experts of the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW) said this in their report for October 3.

ISW analysts noted the statement of the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskovabout the fact that “the borders of the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions within Russia will depend on the will of the population.” Peskov said that the borders of the Kherson and Zaporizhia regions have not yet been determined, but Russian officials “will continue to consult with people living in the Kherson and Zaporizhia regions,” but did not specify how this would be done.

ISW also drew attention to the statement of Zaporizhia collaborator Volodymyr Rogov that the Soviet administrative borders of the Zaporizhia region now belong to Russia and will be administered from the regional capital, the city of Zaporizhia, which is still under Ukrainian control.

“Rogov acknowledged that approximately a quarter of Zaporizhia remains “temporarily occupied” by Ukrainian troops, but “control over the entire administrative border of the Zaporizhia region will be returned.” On October 3, Rogov stated that “after the release, a referendum will also be held” so that all residents of the Zaporizhzhia region would be involved in reunification with Russia,” ISW noted.
