The Kremlin has responded to Finland's and Sweden's aspirations to join NATO

It stated that the Alliance was now “imprisoned for confrontation”.

Spokesman for Russian President Dmitry Peskov said that < strong> NATO membership of Finland and Sweden will not bring security to Europe. He said this during the last briefing, RBC Ukraine reports.

“The Alliance itself is more of a tool for confrontation. It is not the Alliance that ensures peace and stability. Further enlargement of the Alliance will not bring additional security to the European continent,” he said. >

Recall, according to NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, if Finland or Sweden decide to apply for NATO membership, then can count on positive response and a quick accession procedure.
