The expert believes that due to the gas component, products will increase in price by 20%.
In October, the price of gas for the population, compared to previous months, will not change. However, gas tariffs for industrial enterprises will increase in the fall, which will cause food prices in Ukraine to rise. This was stated by energy expert Yuriy Korolchuk on the Argument program.
“The industry that consumed gas mainly exported goods. This weakens the competitiveness of Ukrainian goods on foreign markets. This will affect the domestic consumer … the same bread, dairy products are the first things a person buys in a store. Meat products too. But you shouldn't expect a multiple growth, about 20%. Plus inflation,” says Korolchuk.
But, according to him, the decision to raise the tariff was justified.
“There is nothing good about it. But in principle, there was no other decision to maintain the tariffs for the population for gas and electricity. Even if the tariffs were increased, the payment would fall. It is already in wartime… When 50% of the war is paid, it is already good, but it would fall even lower,” he notes.
