The humanitarian corridor from Mariupol did not work as planned today – Vereshchuk

Due to the lack of control over their own military on the ground, the occupiers were unable to ensure a proper ceasefire.

Deputy Prime Minister – Iryna Vereshchuk, Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine, said that the humanitarian corridor from Mariupol did not work as planned today. She wrote about this in her Telegram.

“Unfortunately, the humanitarian corridor from Mariupol did not work as planned today. Due to the lack of control over their own military on the ground, the occupiers were unable to ensure a proper ceasefire,” Vereshchuk wrote.

She added that due to inherent disorganization and negligence, the occupiers were unable to provide timely transportation of people to the point where dozens of Ukrainian buses and ambulances were waiting.

“Tomorrow morning we will resume our efforts in Mariupol I appeal to our people in Mariupol: we will fight for each of you, “the Minister stressed.

The head of the Donetsk Regional State Administration Pavlo Kyrylenko stated that some of the planned buses with evacuated residents of Mariupol were moving towards Zaporizhia. However, of the stated number of buses, they were much smaller.

“Today, the so-called evacuation corridor was announced by the occupiers, the Russian side. In this evacuation corridor, a number of buses were announced, there are loading points for these buses and further traffic on a certain route towards the city of Zaporozhye, and there they would pass to the territory. There are many fewer of the declared number of buses. Of course, people gathered at those collection points, but few of them got on these buses. Now some of these buses follow the route of the Russian Federation, “Kirilenko said.

He promised to inform which of the residents of Mariupol got into the territory controlled by the Ukrainian authorities as soon as these people are in touch. He also promises to announce later “whether it will be possible to work on this algorithm in the coming days.”

At the same time, the Mariupol City Council announced that a convoy of buses and ambulances in Orikhiv is ready to continue the evacuation of Mariupol residents.
