The heating season in Melitopol is at risk of disruption, leaving the city is practically impossible – Fedorov

Due to the destruction of gas pipelines and the seizure of the ZNPP, the city was in a critical situation.

The heating season in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine is under threat of disruption. The Russians damaged hundreds of civil and energy infrastructure and did not restore them until mid-autumn. One of the cities in which the situation is critical is Melitopol. There, the heating season, with a high probability, will begin significantly late, and due to constant interruptions in electricity and water supply, thousands of people will remain without heat. This was announced by the city's mayor Ivan Fedorov on the air of the national news marathon.

According to the official, Melitopol began to suffer from interruptions in electricity, gas supply and water supply earlier than most Ukrainian cities. This is connected with capture by the Russians of Zaporizhzhya NPP, which supplies the settlement.

“In Melitopol, there were power outages much earlier than they appeared on the territory of our entire state, because the Russians took over the ZANP. Today, the ZNPP is almost non-functional and there are constant power outages in Melitopol. When there are interruptions with electricity, there are problems with water supply and mobile communication. In addition, there has been no gas in the city for several months, so the heating season is in danger of disruption,” Fedorov said.

He noted that a large number of the city's residents want to evacuate, but now it is practically impossible, because the enemy has blocked all exits, in particular the way through Vasylivka. Fedorov said that there are more than four thousand people at the crossing point to the territory controlled by Ukraine, but the occupiers allow only 20-30 people a day.
