"The goal was not murder, but warning", - Grozev on the possible poisoning of delegates in the talks between Ukraine and Russia

Bellingcat investigative journalist Hristo Grozev said that the purpose of poisoning members of the Ukrainian delegation in talks with Russia was not murder, but warning. This was reported by The Wall Street Journal.

Grozev also said that it had taken too long for the German forensic team, which had the necessary knowledge, to conduct an examination, and that too much time had passed to detect the alleged poison.

“It was not an intention to kill, it was just a warning,” WSJ quoted Grozev as saying.

It follows from the article that after the beginning of the war Abramovich visited not only Kyiv but also Lviv, and also met Zelensky personally (he had no such symptoms).

WSJ reporters believe that the poisoning was staged by some forces in the Kremlin who want to disrupt the talks.

The newspaper also interviewed Western experts, who allowed both poisoning by some chemical or biological agent and exposure to electromagnetic radiation. This is the leading, though not yet confirmed, version of the causes of the “Havana syndrome”, which has affected dozens of American diplomats and intelligence agents around the world.

Earlier, Bellingcat reporters reported that three members of the delegation who participated in the talks between Ukraine and Russia experienced symptoms of chemical weapons poisoning. One of them was allegedly the Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich. The Guardian, citing sources, confirmed the information that the Russian oligarch had symptoms of poisoning.

Recall that in early March, US Treasury officials created a package of sanctions to to punish Roman Abramovich after the start of Russia's war against Ukraine. But Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky advised President Joe Biden during a telephone conversation not to impose sanctions on Abramovich, who could be a useful mediator with Russia in peace talks.
