The German government is blocking the supply of 100 Marder-Bild infantry fighting vehicles to Ukraine

The first German Rheinmetall tanks could be repaired in six weeks.

The Federal Security Council of Germany has been blocking exports to Ukraine's 100 Marder infantry fighting vehicles, the request for which was submitted by the manufacturer Rheinmetall , writes Bild .

An internal letter from the German Ministry of Defense states that the usable Marder could be repaired “within six weeks”, the rest – in a maximum of 15 months .

“That is, if the federal government approved the declaration of intent submitted to Rheinmetall and the Ukrainian government in March, the first equipment could stay in Ukraine for weeks and help defend against the Russian army, “Bild said. Bild . Instead, due to Scholz's doctrine of “no heavy weapons” at the beginning of the war, Rheinmetall initially did not dare to ask the government for such an agreement with Ukraine.

Earlier Bild reported that the Bundeswehr has free armored vehicles, including the Marder infantry fighting vehicle, which, however, does not provide to Ukraine.

In April, Rheinmetall asked the German government for permission to Ukraine battle tanks Leopard 1A5. This model was created to withstand the Soviet T-55 and T-62, later modified to be able to deter enemy forces on the T-64B, T-72B and T-72M1.
