The Georgian Defense Ministry called on Ukraine to “forget the insults” and return the ambassador

The head of the department Zhuansher Burchuladze claims that his country holds the lead in terms of providing humanitarian aid to our country.

The head of the Ministry of Defense of Georgia called error of official Kyiv's decision to recall the ambassador and called for “forgetting the insults”. Juanscher Burchuladze is convinced that “the wording that the country does not join the sanctions is wrong.” In his latest address, he said the government had joined all critical sanctions, including the UN and the Council of Europe, Novosti-Georgia reported.

According to Burchuladze, his country holds the lead in terms of humanitarian aid:

“No less important is the attitude of Ukrainians in Georgian society, and Ukrainians do not hide it. Probably, in my opinion, there is no alternative country where Ukrainian citizens are treated like we are. The recall of the ambassador was, of course, a mistake. The sooner we forget the existing images, the sooner our countries will develop and peace will come, “the minister said.

Explaining the country's non-accession to the full package of sanctions, the head of the defense department called “unreasonable” the decision to join those sanctions “that will not affect the aggressor, but only oppress his country's population “.

In March, Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili said that Georgia will not join the list of countries that have imposed economic sanctions against the Kremlin.

President of Ukraine Zelensky announced the recall of the ambassador, explaining the decision as a reaction to “obstacles for volunteers who want to help us” and for “immoral position on sanctions.”

However, the situation with the assistance of Russia's international isolation from Tbilisi should be called ambiguous. As early as April, President Salome Zurabishvili said her country was adhering to the Western-imposed restrictions on Russia despite initial efforts to gain neutrality amid a large-scale invasion of Ukraine.
