GUR noted that the explosions took place on July 28 on the territory of the industrial zone in a newly built building where the occupiers were going to keep our captured fighters evacuated from Azovstal. This destroyed the building, the equipment of which the invaders completed two days ago, moving part of the defenders of Ukraine there.

The intelligence revealed that on August 1, the commission from Moscow planned to conduct an audit of the expenditure of the allocated funds and the conditions of stay of our soldiers at the “object”. according to the requirements of the Russian leadership, the “problem” was solved by destroying the premises, together with the Ukrainians housed in it,” the GUR said.

The second purpose of the explosions in Olenivka is called by intelligence to increase tension among the population of Ukraine. The authors of the scenario of the terrorist attack could take into account the high public interest in the fate of the heroes of “Azovstal”, hoping to provoke an increase in social tension in our country.

The head of the Main Directorate of Intelligence, Kyrylo Budanov, called on all international institutions to express a tough position regarding the events in Olenivka in order to find out the real circumstances of the terrorist attack and prevent the recurrence of similar events in the future. He also appealed to the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement as one of the guarantors of the safety and proper maintenance of the defenders of prisoners of war of Ukraine with a call to provide a proper assessment of the tragedy and make efforts to find out the real circumstances and reasons for the killing of our soldiers.
