The European Union will build a bunker for negotiations to protect itself from Russian spies – the media

The special premises will cost the EU 8 million euros and will have special technical characteristics.

The authorities of the European Union decided to build a special bunker for negotiations between the leaders of the bloc countries. It is assumed that this will help the EU to protect itself from Russian or other spies.

According to EUobserver, the corresponding memorandum states that the premises will cost the EU 8 million euros and will have special technical characteristics. In particular, it will lack Internet connectivity, but will have internal conference technology with a large screen and microphones connected to booths for 30 interpreters.

The boardroom and booths will be housed in a NATO-certified isolation frame to “reduce the operational risk of electromagnetic pulse emissions” generated by IT screens and cables. This should protect the negotiators from remote interception of the signal by enemy special services.

The capacity of the bunker for negotiations will be approximately 100 people, including recorders and meeting staff. The EU memorandum states that the special room will protect the bloc's internal meetings from “Russian or other spies”.
