The court allowed a pre-trial investigation into the former Deputy Minister of Justice Yanukovych in the case of seizure of state power , according to the State Bureau of Investigation. This will allow DBR investigators to conduct a pre-trial investigation into the suspect without his presence.

“Investigators of the State Bureau of Investigation have received permission to conduct a special pre-trial investigation into the former Deputy Minister of Justice of Ukraine in criminal proceedings for seizure of state power (Part 5 of Article 27 and Part 1 of Article 109 of the Criminal Code),” the statement said.

The former Deputy Minister of Justice of Ukraine is suspected of aiding the former President of Ukraine in seizing state power. In particular, in 2010 he facilitated the entry into force of the Constitutional Court's decision to return the 1996 version of the Constitution. This significantly increased the powers of the President.
