The center-right led by Giorgia Maloni is leading in the Italian elections: what exit polls say

Voter turnout is almost 10% lower than in 2018.

On Sunday, September 25, early parliamentary elections were held in Italy. According to La Repubblica, voter turnout was 64.38%, almost 10 points less than in 2018. According to the exit poll of the state broadcaster RAI, the center-right are in the lead, with 111 to 131 seats in the parliament.

So, Italian exit polls show that the center-right Fratelli D'ltalia, led by Georgia, is in first place Maloney, who, according to various indicators, gained from 22% to 26% of voters. With them in the coalition will be League for Salvini led by Matteo Salvini with results of 9.5-13.5% and Forza Italia of former Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi – 6-8%. According to preliminary estimates, the center-right forces will get between 111 and 131 seats.

In the opposition will be the center-left Democrats of former Prime Minister Enrico Lett's Partito Democratico, which came in second place – their support was between 17% and 21%, and the democratic populist party Movimento 5 Stelle (“5 Star Movement”) has 13.5-17.5%.

Let us remind you that the previous Italian government led by ex-Prime Minister Mario Draghi resigned in July. Draghi explained his decision by a split in the ruling coalition.
