The Ambassador of Ukraine demands from the Mayor of Berlin to lift the ban on Ukrainian symbols at events on May 8-9

Banners associated with Ukraine have been banned in Berlin.

Ambassador of Ukraine to Germany Andriy Melnyk expressed his indignation concerning the ban on Ukrainian symbols at events on May 8-9 in Berlin. This was reported by RND.

“We are shocked that the Berlin police banned the carrying of flags associated with Ukraine, May 8 and 9… This is a slap in the face to Ukraine and a slap in the face to the Ukrainian people… The capital is banned from publicly carrying the Ukrainian flag as well as the Russian one, under which the worst war crimes against the civilian Ukrainian population and tens of thousands of Ukrainians, women and children killed in cold blood are being committed day and night. This is a huge scandal. Melnyk stressed.

According to him, the police's efforts to ensure security can be understood, but the fact that the victim and the perpetrators are equated is “outrageous.”

Melnyk called on the mayor Berlin's Francisco Giffy and Senator Iris Spranger “immediately overturn this dubious decision”.
