On February 24, Russia launched a full-scale war against Ukraine. The occupiers attacked several months before the end of the school year and the introductory campaign. Oksana Onishchenko in an article for ZN.UA “ Documents on education during the war. Three things you need to know , ”she explained how Ukrainian schoolchildren will be able to get a certificate during the war and what will happen to the final exams.

“Unlike previous years, 9th grade graduates have already been exempted from passing the state final certification by the order of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine of February 28, 2022 №232. Regarding the exemption from certification of 11th grade graduates, on March 24 the Verkhovna Rada passed the relevant law, we are waiting for the president's signatures and publication, “the author writes.

According to her, if applicants were forced to move to safer regions, they can stay for distance learning or external studies in their educational institutions (provided that they function). Students can also get a job at a new place of residence or enroll in any school that works remotely or provides an externship.

“Currently, private distance schools have already created many offers for applicants for education. The issue of issuing documents will be decided by the relevant educational institutions, to which the applicants will be assigned, “Oksana Onishchenko explained.

At the same time, if 9th and 11th graders are temporarily abroad, they have also been offered several options to complete their studies and obtain a certificate of basic or complete general secondary education.

“If the school where the children studied in Ukraine has already organized distance learning, it is necessary to recommend students to join it. In this case, parents should contact their institution, which will issue the appropriate document. Parents can also apply to the International Ukrainian School for enrollment in the Ministry of Education and Science on an external basis on an individual basis. Issuance of educational documents in such cases will be made by the International Ukrainian School. The necessary information is posted on the school's website, “the author said.
