Growing greenhouse vegetables has become problematic in all EU countries.
Experts believe that the increase in prices is related to bad weather conditions and high energy costs, EastFruit reports.
As a result, selling prices for cucumbers increased by an average of 25%, up to UAH 45-55/kg. . And greenhouse tomatoes rose in price by an average of 29% to UAH 40-50/kg in a week.
According to experts, there is a possible shortage of both greenhouse tomatoes and cucumbers in Ukraine.
However. Ukraine is not the only country that has found itself in such a situation. The crisis in growing greenhouse vegetables has already affected almost all EU countries. The increase in the price of energy sources, as well as the complication of logistics, caused a mass refusal of European producers from the winter season of growing greenhouse products.
According to representatives of greenhouse plants, such a rapid increase in the price of greenhouse vegetables is a forced measure. Since with the onset of cold weather, many producers have already started heating their greenhouses.
Currently, it is very difficult for Ukrainian producers to switch to alternative types of fuel, so many, following the example of Europeans, have also given up the winter season of greenhouse vegetables.
