Shoigu paid leading Russian mass media to “convince” Putin to start a general mobilization – mass media

The military leadership of the Russian Federation declares that currently the Russian army in Ukraine is fighting in the minority.

After the failed operation of the Russian army to capture Kyiv, relations between the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation Sergei Shoigu and President Vladimir Putin deteriorated significantly. The general is afraid to contradict the head of the Kremlin, even though the situation on the battlefield requires it. In particular, Shoigu never dared to openly make a call for general mobilization, although most members of the military leadership of the Russian Federation consider this a necessary step, reports “Vazhnye istorii”.

Citing their own sources close to the General Staff of the Russian Federation, the journalists claim that Putin is still a categorical opponent of general mobilization, even despite the urgent need of the Russian army for rotation and replenishment of personnel. On the other hand, Sergei Shoigu, who understands that his plan to quickly seize Ukraine has failed, is clearly aware of the hopelessness of the situation, but does not dare to contradict the dictator.

According to Russian army officials, there is a catastrophic shortage of soldiers and officers at the front. As the staff members note, the Russian army in Ukraine is fighting in the minority. According to various estimates, the number of Russian and pro-Russian military groups in Ukraine is 150–180 thousand soldiers and officers, taking into account the troops of the LPR and DPR. The number of Ukrainian troops before the start of hostilities was close to 250,000 people, and taking into account the mobilization, it was brought up to 700,000. Thus, the rate of Russian advance in Ukraine is currently very slow.

Understanding the situation, Shoigu took radical steps in the first months of the war. His people regularly paid the leading Russian mass media to place in the infospace materials justifying the general mobilization. In this way, the general hoped to influence Putin and force him to change his mind. According to sources, Shoigu and his “friends” were paid about 300,000 rubles for one analytical article.

In addition, with the help of the press, the general tried to absolve himself of responsibility for failure of the “special operation”. According to journalists, the Russian military, security forces and politicians are actively collecting compromising materials on each other, but they do not give way to criminal cases because there is a war going on. It is for this reason that Shoigu is still in his position, although in fact he has not been making key decisions for a long time.
