Representatives of the fuel business handed over proposals to the government, and the government warned of responsibility for abuses under wartime.
May 17 under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister Denis Shmygal held an online meeting with representatives of the fuel business to provide the domestic fuel market. This was reported by the Government portal.
News from the authorities, which was announced during the meeting, was as follows:
- Denis Shmygal said that he personally had talks on liberalization logistics routes and with the President of the European Council Charles Michel and with the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen.
- The European Union has introduced so-called “solidarity corridors” for Ukraine. This was also reported by Shmygal. A similar tool was used during the pandemic in Europe, when vaccines and medicines were delivered.
- The Cabinet is negotiating other supply routes to expand logistics opportunities. It is unknown at this time what he will do after leaving the post.
- The authorities are ready to do whatever it takes to enable businesses to import fuel into the country. At checkpoints, road and rail fuel vehicles are given absolute priority .
- Road vehicles with fuel Ukraine passes the border without queuing – this is information from the State Border Guard Service.
- The number of fuel trucks crossing the border daily has increased by almost a third compared to the beginning of May . This was announced by First Deputy Prime Minister Yulia Svyridenko.
- She sees the government's main task – to ensure that people have fuel and there is no abuse in the market. According to Shmygal, the state will react to such manifestations according to wartime .
Representatives of the fuel business, according to a government statement, generally had no comments. During the meeting, the following theses were voiced by them:
- Market participants stated that there are no delays in crossing the border.
- Representatives of the fuel business noted the high level of cooperation with the Government and stressed the importance of joint communication on the current market situation.

Following the meeting, market participants provided the Government with some advice in the Cabinet do not disclose. All that is known is that:
- Proposals received during the meeting. will be discussed by members of the government. There is an operational headquarters, which, in particular, includes the Ministry of Energy and the Ministry of Infrastructure.
- Following the meeting, the Prime Minister instructed the Ministry of Economy together with the Ministry of Energy and the relevant association to develop proposals to overcome the crisis in the oil market and eliminate fuel shortages.

To help businesses and overcome this crisis in the fuel market, the state has, in particular, already reduced VAT from 20% to 7% on gasoline, diesel and liquefied petroleum gas and agreed to a zero rate of excise duty on these items.
