Russians with Schengen visas will be banned from entering the Czech Republic

The decision will take effect from October 25.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic Jan Lipavsky said that for Russians whose passports have Schengen tourist visas, an entry ban will be introduced from October 25.

“From October 25, we [the government] will introduce measures against citizens of the Russian Federation who have received short-term Schengen visas for the purpose of tourism , [participation in the events of] culture and sports. They will be banned from entering the Czech Republic. This applies primarily to Russian citizens arriving at the [international] airport in Prague,” the minister said, Anadolu reports.

Earlier it was reported that Russian travel documents issued to persons living in the regions of Ukraine and Georgia temporarily occupied by the Russian Federation, will not be accepted as valid travel documents for obtaining a visa or crossing the borders of Schengen countries.

The European Union also terminated the agreement on visa facilitation between the EU and Russia.
