Reporters Without Borders believes that Russian military executed Ukrainian journalist Max Levin and his friend Soldier Oleksiy Chernyshov near Kyiv. Experts say the murder was deliberate, after interrogation and torture.
This conclusion was reached by the RSF after investigators visited Kyiv from May 23 to June 4. They investigated the journalist's death, so they later published a report with information and evidence that the execution was deliberate. Also on the basis of the collected information it was possible to establish a chronology of events.
On March 10, Levin lost his drone in the woods near Moshchun. He returned to this place three days later, and the Russians had already occupied part of the territory. Despite the hostile terrain, the journalist wanted to return the drone, as he considered the latest pictures he took important.
When RSF experts arrived at the scene in late May, Levin's charred Ford Maverick was still there.

Experts also found several bullets, shell casings and documents proving Chernyshov's identity. There were also items whose DNA traces confirmed that the Russian military had visited the scene of the murder. Some of the evidence has been removed.
