Russia stops production of new tanks due to financial problems and lack of imported components. This was reported by the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

Russia's Uralvagonzavod is trying to overcome the crisis caused by the imposed sanctions. Uralvogonzavod (Nizhny Tagil) is a Russian manufacturer of armored vehicles, primarily the main tank of the Russian Federation “T-72”, – said in the GUR MOU.

The intelligence service noted that since the beginning of the full-scale war in Ukraine, the company has faced numerous financial problems. Yes, we are talking about:

  • increase in interest rates on loans;
  • lack of funds to service foreign currency loans;
  • increase in prices for materials and components ( in particular, armored steel).

“These and other problems have significantly complicated the production of most types of military equipment. Despite the widely advertised “import substitution”, Russia is not able to continue producing high-tech weapons on its own without continuing to supply imported components, “the intelligence added.
