Counteroffensive operation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Kharkiv region became one of the most shameful defeats of the Russian army during the full-scale war of February 24. On October 18, the occupation forces attacked Ukrainian positions in the village of Ohirtseve, Vovchan district, Kharkiv region, which is only two kilometers from the state border. As reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the offensive was not successful.

“The nature of this limited incursion is unclear, but it may indicate that Russian forces may maintain territorial claims in the Kharkiv region”, ISW experts note.
