Россия безответственно заблокировала работу миссии ОБСЕ в Украине — постпред США

The United States is disappointed that Russia has decided to block the extension of the mandate of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission in Ukraine. This was stated by the US Permanent Representative to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe Michael Carpenter at a meeting of the OSCE Permanent Council, Interfax-Ukraine reports.

“It is deeply regrettable that the Russian Federation has blocked a consensus decision to extend the mandate of the Special Monitoring Mission in Ukraine. This decision is irresponsible and unjustified, but I think it is hardly surprising. No one will ever forget the actions of Russia that led us to this moment, “Carpenter said.

He stressed that Washington is in solidarity with the objections expressed by the Ambassador of Ukraine and the host country against the closure of the SMM.

“We also fully support the chairman's efforts to continue consensus talks on this issue,” Carpenter said.

He added that Western countries will be obliged to help Ukraine after the war.

“When the massacre is over, we must help Ukraine recover. Ukrainians are fighting not only for their freedom, but also for a free world on behalf of all of us. We will need a full and unwavering commitment to all peace-loving states to help them rebuild a sovereign, democratic and prosperous Ukraine, ”Carpenter said.
