Rosenergoatom sends a group of its own nuclear specialists to Zaporizhzhya NPP – IAEA

The personnel of the nuclear power plant are working under extreme pressure from the occupiers.

Rosenergoatom, which is a division of the Russian state of the nuclear company Rosatom, sent a group of its own nuclear specialists to the Zaporizhzhya NPP. They require daily reports from the plant's management on confidential matters concerning the operation of the facility, according to the International Atomic Energy Agency.

These issues relate to aspects related to administration and management, maintenance and repair, protection and control of access to the facility, as well as the management of nuclear fuel, spent fuel and radioactive waste.

The staff of the Zaporizhzhya NPP, the country's largest plant with six reactors, is “working under incredible pressure,” the Ukrainian side told the agency.

Russian troops seized the station on March 4. Despite the fact that the situation in Zaporizhia remains difficult and, according to Grossi, needs constant attention due to the presence of Russian forces and Rosatom personnel, control remains with Ukrainian operators.
