The Russian president lives “in his world”.
Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer after meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin believes that he is confident that he will win the war in Ukraine. He said this in an interview with the American television channel NBC.
“I think he is now in his own military logic, you know? He believes that war is necessary to ensure the security of the Russian Federation. “He accuses Ukrainians of genocide in Donbas. So far he is in his world, I think he knows what is happening in Ukraine … But I think he believes he will win the war,” Nehammer said.
The presenter asked the Chancellor about Putin's reaction to the war crimes charges.
“He told me that he would cooperate with the international investigation, on the one hand, and on the other hand, he said no He trusts the Western world. So this will be a problem now and in the future. I think that international trust in the UN, international investigations are necessary, “Nehammer said.
The Austrian Chancellor also stressed that this was a tough dispute. He tried to reassure the Russian president, on the example of the Yugoslav war, that an international investigation was useful for prosecuting war criminals. According to Nehammer, Putin also complained to him about the dire consequences of sanctions on Russia, but continued to argue that a “special operation” against Ukraine was necessary.
Earlier it became known what kind of “denazification” Putin intended. An example is the city of Mariupol, which the Russian military turned into a ghetto during World War II.
