Buyers will have to open an account with Gazprombank.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree on gas trade with “unfriendly” countries, according to which from April 1, the payment for “blue fuel” will be transferred to Russian rubles.
According to the decree, buyers of Russian gas will have to open ruble accounts with Gazprombank to pay for gas supplies – the bank will sell on the Moscow Stock Exchange the currency that will be credited to buyers of Russian gas.
Putin said Russia would consider it a breach of contract if gas buyers from “unfriendly” countries refused to pay for it in rubles.
We will remind, earlier the G7 countries and the European Union declared that won't begin to pay for the Russian gas in rubles as it breaks existing contracts. In turn, the Kremlin, commenting on the possible refusal of the EU to pay for gas supplies in rubles, said: “No payment – no gas.”
In turn, the Minister of Energy of Ukraine Herman Galushchenko said that Ukraine will also not agree to pay for the transit of Russian gas in rubles.
