Putin does not regret the attack on Ukraine: “We would have received it later, only in worse conditions for us”

At the same time, he was upset that the recent attack on Ukrainian cities was not successful enough.

President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin said that he has no regrets about the beginning of the war in Ukraine, which he calls a “special military operation”.

“I want it to be clear. What is happening today is, to put it mildly, unpleasant, but we would get the same thing a little later, only in worse conditions for us. So we act correctly and in a timely manner,” Putin said at a press conference following his visit to Kazakhstan.

At the same time, he added that he does not yet see the need for massive strikes against Ukraine, adding that out of 29 Ukrainian objects “seven were not affected as planned by the Ministry of Defense”.

“Currently there is no need for massive strikes. Now there are other tasks. Well, it will be seen there,” he added, asserting that “Russia does not have the task of destroying Ukraine”.

Answering the question whether it is possible to introduce NATO troops into the territory of Ukraine, he stated that it is very dangerous step.

“Introducing some troops into direct confrontation and direct confrontation with the Russian army is a very dangerous step that can lead to a global catastrophe. I hope that those who are talking about this will have enough sense not to take such dangerous steps,” Putin said.
