After the petition was registered, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine responded to its appearance. The head of the department Dmytro Kuleba approved the initiative and called on everyone who cares to vote “yes” in order to prove to international organizations that the whole world seeks to punish the Russian authorities for the criminal orders that cost Ukraine thousands of human lives.

“By giving the order to attack Ukraine, Putin committed the crime of aggression, the most serious of all crimes against international peace. This crime cannot and should not go unpunished. That is why we call on our international partners to support the establishment of the Special Tribunal on the crime of aggression against Ukraine. Global public support for the initiative is very important. We call on people all over the world to sign the petition “Putin to the tribunal,” said Kuleba's address.

Avaaz called on supporters of the petition to collect 2 million signatures. At the moment, the indicator has reached 1.8 million. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also reported that the Russian authorities demand that Avaaz remove the petition.
