Russian occupier killed an unarmed resident of Sumy region for no reason

According to the investigation, on February 28, 2022 Sergeant Shishimarin shot in the head a 62-year-old man who was riding a bicycle and talking on the phone. It happened in the village of Chupakhivka, Sumy region.

Vadim Shishimarin testified in court and explained why he shot at an unarmed man. “There was a man there, he was talking on the phone. Ensign Makeyev ordered the shooting. I refused. Then another serviceman ordered me to shoot in a threatening tone, arguing that he would betray us. I fired in a short burst,” he said.

Responding to a judge's question about the “internal treatment” of the victim, the military said: “I did not want to kill him. I shot to keep up.”

On May 19, the victim in the case, the widow of the murdered Kateryna Shelipova, spoke. She said she was at home that day (her husband died near the house) and heard gunshots, and when she went out into the yard and approached the gate, she saw Shishimarin with a machine gun in his car.

“I closed the gate and stood. When the shooting was over, I went outside and saw my husband. He had already been shot in the head. I started screaming. Screaming loudly. Neighbors came. We covered him with a cloth.”

The victim said she would like for a 21-year-old Russian military life sentence. “But if he is replaced by our Azovstal defenders, I will not be against it,” the woman added. . Maltisov was in the same car and witnessed what was happening.

Vadim Shishimarin is the commander of the 4th Kantemirov Panzer Division of the Moscow Region. He is accused of violating the laws and customs of war, combined with premeditated murder.

The column, which included Sergeant Shishimarin, was broken up by our Armed Forces. While fleeing, he and 4 other colleagues fired at a private car with machine guns and seized it.

After that, the occupiers drove into the village in a stolen car with punctured wheels. On the way they saw a man returning home and talking on the phone. One of the servicemen ordered the sergeant to kill a civilian so that he would not inform the Ukrainian defenders.

He fired several shots through the open window of a Kalashnikov assault rifle, according to the 62-year-old victim. The man died on the spot just a few dozen meters from his home.

According to the Criminal Code of Ukraine, the accused faces up to 10 years in prison for life. This is the first trial of its kind since the Russian invasion of Ukraine began on February 24, 2022.
