Pro-Russian blogger Sharia, suspected by SBU of treason, detained in Spain

Last year he was declared a suspect.

In Spain, law enforcement on May 4 detained pro-Russian blogger Anatoly Shari. SBU suspects him of treason, informs the SBU press service.

“This became possible due to close cooperation between the Security Service of Ukraine and the Office of the Prosecutor General, international partners and as a result of a multi-level special operation of Ukrainian law enforcement officers. This detention is another evidence that every traitor of Ukraine will sooner or later receive a deserved punishment, it is inevitable, “the statement reads.

The Ukrainian special service suspects Sharia of committing crimes under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine: Art. 111 (treason)
and Art. 161 (violation of equality of citizens depending on their race, nationality, religious beliefs, disability and other grounds).

According to the SBU, Sharii engaged in illegal activities to the detriment of Ukraine's national security in the information sphere.

The evidence of the investigation is confirmed by a number of expert studies, which established that in the interviews and speeches of A. Sharia there are facts of his subversive activities against Ukraine. He was declared a suspect last year.

On February 16, the SBU declared Anatoly Sharia suspicious on articles about treason and incitement to ethnic hatred. A Ukrainian court has arrested a blogger and party leader who has been living in Spain for a long time.

In late May Lithuania stripped Anatoliy Shari of refugee status granted to him after fleeing Ukraine in 2012, annulled all documents issued to the blogger and declared him a persona non grata.

In 2019, the Sharia Party participated in the elections to the Verkhovna Rada, but did not overcome the barrier to entry. The CEC registration of the odious pro-Russian blogger's party provoked mass protests in Kyiv. However, his party ran for a number of regional and city councils in the 2020 local elections.
