Representatives of Russian private military companies continue to recruit prisoners for the war on the territory of Ukraine, reported in the evening summary of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
According to available information, on October 11-12, 385 prisoners were recruited in correctional colony No. 16 of the city of Salavat of the Republic of Bashkortostan.

Russia has long been recruiting its prisoners to participate in the war against Ukraine. There is evidence that Yevgeny Prigozhin, the head of PMC “Wagner”, is engaged in this. In addition, employees of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation are looking for mercenaries in the colonies.
Journalists of the “Vazhnye istorii” publication, referring to anonymous sources among the relatives of prisoners in the Ryazan region and Stavropol Territory, said that the Russian Ministry of Defense has been recruiting mercenaries since at least the end of September. Priority is given to “red” colonies, where, among others, former security forces serve their sentences.
