Poland plans to adopt a decision that will allow Russians in issuing visas. This is reported by “Polish Radio” with reference to Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Pyotr Wawzyk.
According to him, Poland advocates the expansion of EU sanctions in relation to Russia. In particular, we are talking about the cancellation of the agreement on visa facilitation for citizens of the Russian Federation.
A number of large member countries, such as Germany, France and the Netherlands, do not support the introduction of sanctions, so Poland is working on its own solution.
The minister emphasized that Polish diplomacy has been conducting negotiations on this topic with some member states for several weeks. Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, the Czech Republic and Slovakia stand in solidarity with Poland.
“We can expect a decision on this issue in the coming weeks,” the minister noted.
He emphasized that Poland has not been issuing tourist visas to citizens of the Russian Federation for several months.
“Currently, only Russians who are forced to cross the Polish-Russian border due to work, including truck drivers, diplomats, and individuals receive them with a “Polish card” and family members of citizens of Poland and other EU countries,” the diplomat summarized.
