Poland has banned the import of coal from Russia and Belarus

Polish President Andrzej Duda signed a law that bans the import of Russian coal , reports the Polish newspaper Biznes Alert . In general, the law was adopted to apply EU sanctions in response to the large-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Thus, the law prohibits the import of coal and coke to Poland not only from Russia but also from Belarus. The ban will be controlled by customs and tax. Services may seize raw materials and apply to the Treasury for confiscation. Legal entities or individuals who violate the ban will face a fine of up to PLN 20 million (over $ 4.6 million).

entities affected by this ban will be compensated for the damage they suffer as a result of the sanctions imposed. The law will take effect the day after its publication.

Earlier it was reported that EU countries started work on the sixth package of sanctions against Russia . This package should include the “oil option”.

In the latest package of sanctions, the European Union still did not dare to impose an oil embargo and decided to replace it partial traffic blockade. Why partial?
