Plane crash in Greece: all crew members of the Ukrainian An-12 were pulled out from under the rubble

The crew managed to warn about a problem with one of the engines before the crash, after which controllers in Greece allowed the plane to land at the airport of the city of Thessaloniki or at the airport of Kavala. The pilot chose the latter, but was unable to land.

At the site of the crash of the Ukrainian Antonov plane in Greece, the bodies of all eight dead crew members were recovered from the wreckage. The day before, it also became known that after inspection by local rescuers, no dangerous substances were found in the area where the plane fell. The Greek publication Amna reports on the discovery of dead Ukrainians near the city of Kavala.

According to previous information, almost 12 tons of specialized goods for the Ministry of Defense there were transported from Serbia to Bangladesh on board the Ukrainian An-12. Such data was provided by Serbian Defense Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic at yesterday's briefing. According to him, the private company Valir from Serbia was the owner of the goods. At the same time, the flight had all the relevant permits for the transportation of such cargo.

The day before, a representative of the Civil Protection Service of Greece said on the air of the state broadcaster ERT that the plane could be carrying 12 tons of cargo that was “potentially dangerous”, he made assumptions about the toxic materials that were on board the plane.

Ukrainian “Meridian” Airline, which owned the An-12 military transport aircraft, confirmed the crash of its ship in Greece.
