The National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAP) informed the People's Deputy of Ukraine about the suspicion. He offered a bribe to the policemen on patrol so that they would allow him to leave the scene of the accident in which he was involved. This is reported by anti-corruption authorities.
“The investigation into the said fact was started on February 2, 2022 by the Prosecutor General based on the materials of a journalistic investigation,” the NABU said.
According to the SAP, in August 2021, the people's elected official was involved in a road accident, as a result of which 6 people were injured .
“While at the scene of the traffic accident, the people's deputy offered illegal benefits in the form of cash in the amount of 150,000 to the patrol police officers without specifying the monetary unit for leaving the scene of the accident unhindered. According to the people's elected official, these funds were in the car in which he was driving,” the SAP reports.
The law enforcement officers informed the People's Deputy of Ukraine of the suspicion “of an offer to an official to give her an illegal benefit, that is, of committing a crime, provided for in Part 1 of Art. 369 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine”.
The maximum punishment under this article is up to 4 years of imprisonment.
The message does not indicate the name of the people's deputy, but it is most likely about the people's elected official from ” Servants of the people” Alexander Trukhin. It was he who committed the accident on August 23, 2021. Then the journalists published a video from the chest camera of the police officers following the accident. In the video, the deputy asks the police officers to “quietly let them go into the forest”, and then promises to “talk” with the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Denys Monastyrskyi.
< p>After that, the leader of the Servant of the People faction Davyd Arakhamia stated that Oleksandr Trukhin has no place either in the faction or in the SN party. As a result, Trukhin was expelled from the party.
