The premiere is planned at the International Arts Festival, which will be held in Odesa.
Odesa National Opera is preparing the premiere of the opera ” Kateryna” by Olekandra Rodin based on the work of Taras Shevchenko. The theater notes that this will be the largest production of the theater since the time of Independent Ukraine, based on exclusive music and libretto.
In the performance, a hundred performers will be involved on the stage at the same time, a thousand exclusive costumes, unique stage decorations and authentic musical instruments have been created especially for it. national dignity and stability, faith in Victory and the importance of approaching it with the powerful force of art.
The work on this work was a test of strength, endurance, honesty and sincerity in art, the embodiment of faith in the power of light, goodness, and truth of the entire team of our theater, and I am grateful to everyone who contributed their inspiration and talent to the implementation of such an important for Ukraine and the world artistic event!
We dreamed that a unique performance would appear in the repertoire of the Odessa National Opera, which would become a new milestone in the history of Ukrainian theatrical and operatic art, and gradually this dream “materialized”, became a reality, unfortunately, the reality of wartime art…” – stated the general director – artistic director of the Odesa Opera, Nadiya Babich.
The world premiere of the opera will take place on September 17 at the International Arts Festival “Velvet Season at the Odesa Opera”, which this year is called THE ART OF VICTORY. Another showing of the performance will take place on September 18.
The international arts festival “Velvet Season at the Odessa Opera” is one of the largest opera and ballet festivals in Ukraine, which is held at the Odessa National Theater of opera and ballet since 2015 and the largest domestic festival held during the war.
According to the organizers, this year the visual advertising of the event will be decorated with the figure of Nika – the goddess of victory, which is the basis of the Independence monument “Flying Ukraine” erected in heroic Kharkiv – a city that suffers from war every day.
“We loudly proclaim to the whole world that Victory is what the strong and indomitable Ukrainian people always achieve, and the Victory of the theater is in art. So, when the cannons sound, the muses are not silent!”, the announcement of the festival says.
The “Velvet Season at the Odesa Opera” will last from September 17 to October 1.
