A documentary film about women who were forced to leave Ukraine because of the war was released

Within two weeks, the creators of the film promise to release eight more extended stories.

Ukrainian media SLUH and video production KNIFE! Films released the documentary “Dali” about Ukrainian women who were forced to leave their homeland due to the full-scale invasion of Russia. The premiere of the film took place on the YouTube channel SLUH.

The film was directed by Artem Grigoryan, produced by Maksym Serdyuk. Through interviews with each heroine, the authors of the film talk about their difficult path, the problem of choice, life in a new country and the desire to return home. In the film, you can see the sincere memories of a video blogger schoolgirl from Mariupol and her mother; photographers from Kharkiv, students from Kyiv, stand-up artist Natalia Garipova and taekwondo trainers from Cherkasy.

The film crew traveled more than 13,000 kilometers, and the filming took place in Austria, Luxembourg, Cyprus, the Netherlands, Germany, Poland, Slovakia and the Czech Republic.

“We set ourselves the task not just to find interesting characters, but to collect such stories that will be compiled into a complete documentary film. We reviewed more than 200 questionnaires and video business cards. It was very difficult psychologically, because each story is unique, each and every one went through their own problems, traumas and horrors. Then we began to integrate into their lives: we talked for a long time by phone and video. Having established friendly communication, we came to them and spent several days together,” said Maxim Serdyuk.

Within two weeks of the release of the film on YouTube, the creators promise to publish eight separate extended stories that were not included in the tape.
