NATO has accepted applications from Finland and Sweden for membership – video

All 30 NATO members must vote unanimously in favor of these countries.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg received the Finnish and Swedish ambassadors in Brussels on the application for membership of Finland and Sweden in the Alliance .

The day before, the Finnish Parliament voted in favor by 188 votes in 188 votes. and “8” against the country's accession to NATO. The application was approved by the government and the president.

Sweden's application was signed by Foreign Minister Ann Linde on Tuesday.

Applications for membership of these countries will first be considered by the NATO Council, after which the membership agreement must be ratified at the national level in all 30 countries of the alliance.
