More than 6 million Ukrainians have limited access to water – UNICEF

Russia's military aggression against Ukraine leaves civilians not only homeless but also basic human needs.

UNICEF, as one of the UN agencies , is closely monitoring the humanitarian situation in Ukraine. According to the latest data, as a result of active hostilities in the country, 1/5 of Ukraine's population, including a significant proportion – children, suffers from a lack of drinking water, according to the Ukrainian branch of UNICEF.

“More than a month of intense fighting in Ukraine has destroyed water and electricity networks, leaving more than 4.6 million people with limited access to water. In total, more than 6 million people in Ukraine are fighting every day for access to drinking water. one of the most important human needs, “the organization said in a statement.

Especially lack of drinking water is felt in temporarily occupied cities, and also in Nikolaev where the enemy damaged water supply channels. In this regard, the city council is starting to prepare alternative sources of water supply – wells are starting to start.
