More and more Ukrainians are returning from abroad – SBGS

According to the SBGS spokesman, Ukrainians often return to Ukraine on the border with Poland.

Speaker of the State Border Guard Service Andriy Demchenko said that recently the SBGS has recorded an increase in the number of Ukrainians returning home from abroad, Interfax-Ukraine reports. In particular, now about 25-30 thousand people return per day.

“In total, since February 24, more than 4,300,000 people have crossed the border in both directions, but the vast majority are citizens who, fleeing the war, crossed the border in the direction of leaving Ukraine. Recently, we have also seen an increase in the number of Ukrainian citizens returning home. In the first days, a total of about 15,000 Ukrainian citizens crossed the border in the direction of entering Ukraine. At the moment, this number is about 25-30 thousand people a day, “Demchenko said during a briefing.

According to him, “passenger traffic has decreased significantly compared to what happened in the first weeks after Russia's bloody invasion of Ukraine.”

“Previously, passenger traffic per day could reach about 120-130 thousand people per day, and the vast majority of people were moving in the direction of leaving Ukraine. Currently, passenger traffic fluctuates at the level of 60-70 thousand people per day, “said a spokesman for the SBGS.

Demchenko added that most border crossings take place on the border with Poland.
