Mobilization in Russian: the Russian Federation plans to involve residents of the occupied territories of Georgia in the war against Ukraine — mass media

Forced participation in the war in the territories seized by Russia reached Georgia.

The first stage of the so-called “partial” mobilization in the Russian Federation, which Vladimir Putin announced on September 21, faced certain difficulties, so the Kremlin leadership is looking for alternative ways to replenish its own army. In particular, Moscow plans to involve residents of the Georgian territories of South Ossetia and Abkhazia, which were captured in 2008, into hostilities. “Meduza” newspaper writes about it.

According to a source close to the Putin administration, the Kremlin will try to forcibly mobilize several thousand men in the self-proclaimed republics. Such measures are connected with the fact that the Russian army has suffered significant losses in Ukraine and needs the maximum number of reservists to replace the personnel of units that have been destroyed by 50-90%.

In March, the Ukrainian mass media reported on the participation of the military from South Ossetia in the war on the side of Russia. The information field also contained unofficial information that a group of Ossetian contractors refused to participate in hostilities.

Most countries of the world do not recognize the self-proclaimed republics of South Ossetia and Abkhazia, as these territories belong to Georgia. Through a military invasion, the Russian Federation seized them in 2008 and appointed its own puppet governments there, which are fully controlled by the Kremlin.
