The Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Lyudmila Denisova said that millions of Ukrainians in more than ten cities were denied access to drinking water due to the actions of the Russian occupiers.
“The war partially or completely deprived residents of Mariupol, Nikolaev, Kharkov, Akhtyrka, Izyum, Makarov, Rodov, Vasilyevka, Orekhov, Gulyaipol, Chernigov, Trostyanets and many other settlements of access to drinking water,” Denisova told Telegram.
In the Donetsk region, 200,000 people do not have access to drinking water.
“As the scale of the clashes increases, there is a threat that in the coming weeks the Donetsk region may be completely disconnected from the water supply,” Denisova said.
According to her, by shelling strategic objects of life, the occupying country violates the right of Ukrainian citizens to access to drinking water, enshrined in a resolution of the UN General Assembly and a resolution of the UN Human Rights Council.
