Macron and Scholz continue to coordinate actions regarding the response to Russia's war against Ukraine

French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz continue to “closely coordinate actions to respond to the war of the Russian Federation against Ukraine“. In particular, the invasion of the Russian Federation in Ukraine, as well as further measures to support Kyiv, became important topics of conversation between Scholz and Macron during the meeting in Paris on July 4. This is reported by Le Monde.

Scholz and Macron met a week after a private dinner held on June 25 on the occasion of the G7 summit. The leaders of the countries discussed “the main current issues at the international, European and bilateral levels”.

According to the press service of the Elysée Palace, in the conversation between Scholz and Macron, measures on the way to achieving energy independence of Europe were discussed in particular, and as well as problems of defense and strategic resources.

“Such negotiations help to build and deepen trust, especially after the NATO and G7 summit. There is a difference whether such meetings are held face-to-face or virtually,” said the chancellor's spokesman Steffen Gebestreit.

Also on his Twitter page, Scholz thanked Macron for the invitation.

“Thank you very much for the invitation, dear Emmanuel Macron. Whether it's the G7 meeting in Elmau, the NATO summit or Paris – it's good that we continue to exchange ideas on many important topics of our time,” Scholz wrote.
