After the Kremlin troops invaded Ukraine, Lithuania was one of the first EU countries to limit the issuance of new Schengen visas to citizens of the Russian Federation.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania believes that such restrictions will effective only if they are implemented at the level of the entire EU, and not just introduced by individual countries, reports BNS.
Meanwhile, Estonia has already finally banned Russians from entering with Schengen visas , issued by this country, the border will be closed for them on August 18.
“Lithuania consistently advocates sanctions against aggressive states and maintains the position that restrictions work more effectively if they are applied at the EU level,” – reported in to the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
After the Kremlin troops invaded Ukraine, Lithuania was one of the first EU countries to limit the issuance of new Schengen and national visas to citizens of Russia. Similar decisions were made by Latvia and Estonia.
