Kuleba demands an investigation into CBS News' misinformation about arms smuggling from Ukraine

The television company has already acknowledged the error in the material.

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba demands from the American CBS News to conduct an internal investigation due to the publication of disinformation that only 30% of the weapons supplied to Ukraine by the allies reach the front.

The American publication quoted Lithuanian volunteer Jonas Ohman as saying that “only 30% of the supply of Western weapons eventually reaches the Ukrainian military,” because “something happens to it” after crossing the border.

CBS News later said it had removed a tweet promoting the Arming Ukraine story that quoted the founder of the nonprofit Blue-Yellow, Jonas Ohman. Changes were also made to the article itself and the categorical tone was removed.

“We welcome the first step, but it is not enough. You have misled a huge audience by sharing unsubstantiated claims and undermining confidence in the supply of vital military aid to a nation that is resisting aggression and genocide. There should be an internal investigation into who did it and why,” Kuleba responded in turn.

The day before, the adviser to the head of the Office of the President, Mykhailo Podolyak, said that information leaks about the “black arms market” in Ukraine are the work of Russian propaganda , which is trying to discredit Ukraine in the eyes of Western societies.

The film “Arming Ukraine” was released on the TV channel CBS August 4. In it, among others, the American founder of the military company Mozart Group, Andy Milborn, claims that some of the Western weapons – drones, body armor, helmets, etc. – do not reach the front line.

This is not the first criticism of Ukraine in the matter of smuggling weapons provided by partners. In particular, on July 21, the official representative of Europol, Jan Op Gen Oort, made a similar statement.
