36-year-old Hero went to the front as a volunteer on the first day of the Russian invasion
Journalist, 36-year-old serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Makhov died from the shelling of the occupiers. Oleksiy Matsuka, the editor-in-chief of UATV's foreign broadcasting channel, told Telegram.
Oleksandr worked for many years on Ukraine and Ukraine 24 as a military correspondent and covered events on the front lines. In 2021, he switched to the Dom channel.
On the day of the full-scale Russian aggression, the journalist went to the front.
I am a veteran and a reservist and I am going to war. The time of the war of liberation has come! I will fight and kill as much as I can. I serve the Ukrainian people! ”Makhov wrote on Facebook on February 24.
Let his son Vladislav know: Russia will be responsible for this death. We will definitely win for Ukraine. I'm sure it was Alexander's dream. We implement it. Eternal memory to him and to all our heroes who gave their lives for Ukraine! ”Said the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky in his evening video address.
