Ukraine receives a sufficient number of different vaccines for immunization and was able to maintain a network of vaccination centers.
from the coronavirus infection have significantly decreased – if previously 250,000 people were vaccinated per day, in August the level of vaccination increased to 438,000 vaccinations per month, while in July it was only 250,000 doses, Alli Kotlyar said in an interview >”A new wave of covid and Ukraine's readiness for chemical and nuclear attacks” chief state sanitary doctor Ihor Kuzin.
“Almost 52% of Ukrainian citizens received one dose of the vaccine. Two – 50%. The first booster is 6.3%. In essence, we are talking about the fact that 724,000 people did not receive the second dose. And 13.3 million people did not receive the first booster, that is, they do not have full protection. It is quite risky to enter into an epidemic rise in morbidity with such indicators,” the health doctor emphasized.
He added that at the moment it is worth taking a second booster dose for people from risk groups: age 60+ and those who have serious concomitant non-infectious diseases. However, in the near future, the general public may be allowed to receive a second booster dose of the vaccine, i.e. all those who are willing. At the same time, although the terms of boosterization are not clear, it is most effective to receive the third and fourth doses of the vaccine in the interval from 6 to 9 months after the basic vaccination. not necessary. The same logic applies to the second booster,” Kuzin added.
Now in Ukraine, Janssen, CoronaVac and Pfizer vaccines are available.
CoronaVac is available in sufficient quantities both at the national (about 3 million doses) and regional (about 2.2 million) levels. They had time to deliver it at the beginning of the year, with an estimate for all of 2022 and almost all of 2023.
The Janssen vaccine arrived in Ukraine in August under the COVAX humanitarian mechanism. There are about 200,000 doses of this vaccine in Ukraine. The Ministry of Health says that, for the most part, they planned to use it for people who want to leave the country and need to be vaccinated urgently.
At the end of July, Ukraine also received 500,000 doses of the Pfizer vaccine, and the same amount is expected in September.
“We receive in small batches. Firstly, the vaccine has a rather short shelf life – you need to use it in time. Secondly, other countries are also waiting for this vaccine within the framework of the COVAX mechanism”, – added the chief health doctor.
He also noted that in Ukraine they are resuming the use of the Comirnaty (Pfizer) vaccine – while the vaccines necessary for storage are being formed conditions, as it now comes fully prepared.
“Regarding the infrastructure – vaccination points and the work of mobile brigades. As far as possible, it was preserved. Now there are almost 2.5 thousand vaccination points, about 400 mobile brigades and 106 population vaccination centers,” said Kuzin.
