Iran denies supplying drones to Russia

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran assures that the country does not sell weapons to Russia.

Iran once again rejected the accusation that it supplied Russia with weapons for use in the war in Ukraine, its foreign ministry said on Saturday.

Kyiv and many of its Western allies have accused Moscow of using Iranian-made drones in attacks on Ukraine in in recent weeks.

The topic is expected to be discussed by European Union foreign ministers at a meeting in Luxembourg on Monday.

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian “stressed that the Islamic Republic of Iran has not provided and will not provide any weapons for use in the war in Ukraine,” the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

“We believe that arming each side of the crisis will prolong the war,” said the Iranian Foreign Minister in a telephone conversation with his Portuguese counterpart, João Gomes Cravinho. , nor in Afghanistan, Syria and Yemen,” reports AFP.

During a separate telephone conversation with the head of the EU foreign policy department, Josep Borrell, on Friday, Amir-Abdollahian confirmed Iran's official position of neutrality regarding the war, which began almost eight months ago.

“We have defense cooperation with Russia, but our policy regarding the war in Ukraine is not to send weapons to the conflicting parties, stop the war and stop the movement of people,” he said.
