The head of the Indian Defense Ministry emphasized the need for dialogue and diplomacy “for the fastest possible resolution of the conflict.”
Indian Defense Minister Rajnath Singh under during a telephone conversation with the head of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation Sergey Shoigu emphasized that resorting to the nuclear option in the war against Ukraine is unacceptable, reports CNN.
Rajnath Singh once again confirmed India's position on the need to follow the path of dialogue and diplomacy for as soon as possible resolution of the conflict.
He noted that any side should not resort to the nuclear option, as the prospect of using nuclear or radiological weapons contradicts the basic principles of humanity.
Earlier, the Indian leader warned Russian President Vladimir Putin that “today's era is not an era of war.” However, instead of severing economic ties with the Kremlin, India increased its purchases of Russian oil, coal and fertilizers, giving Putin an important financial lifeline. Also, India repeatedly abstained from voting on the condemnation of Russia at the UN.
