On Saturday, August 14, in Washington, a man drove a car into the Capitol fence, after which the vehicle caught fire. The driver got out of the car and opened fire with a gun in the air. A few minutes later he committed suicide. This is written by the Associated Press.

According to the source, after the accident, the man, whose name has not been disclosed, first fired several times upwards, and when he saw that the the police are approaching him, he shot himself. One of the versions of the law enforcement officers is that the deceased himself set fire to the car in advance, since the collision with the barrier could not have caused the fire.

Washington police found out that the man had a criminal past, but was in no way connected to the Capitol, so the motives for his act remain unknown. The law enforcement officers reject the version with the persecution of one of the members of the US Congress.

According to the police, no one was injured in the incident except the deceased.
