In the Latvian capital Riga, police detained a man who beat a young man with a Ukrainian flag after the action “For liberation from Soviet heritage.” The attacker faces up to 5 years in prison. This was reported by Delfi.

According to the source, the incident occurred on the evening of May 20. After the mass event, the driver of the BMW car got out of his car and injured a young man born in 2003. The flag of Ukraine was hoisted over the latter's shoulders. After committing the crime, the attacker quickly left the scene.

Criminal proceedings have been instituted over the attack. Having determined the make and number of the car in which the malefactor was traveling, the local police and a special unit detained him in their own house on the night of May 21. It is reported that the man has previously attracted the attention of law enforcement agencies.
